Diamonds with Heart.

Diamonds with Heart

Almost half of the world’s population cook their modest food supplies on wood fires, usually in tiny, enclosed huts with poor ventilation. The resultant smoke causes serious health problems for eyes and lungs and is the root cause of many other health problems. To exacerbate matters, wood fuel is in critically short supply. In fact more than 2 billion people suffer everyday from fuel wood shortages.

Here’s where Kingdom Diamonds help. For every Kingdom Diamond sold (over 1.00ct) we donate one highly efficient wood gasifier cook stove to a family in need. These cook stoves operate in a clean and virtually odourless way, and can be used indoors without the associated indoor air pollution of ordinary fires – one of the world’s most significant health risks as recognised by the World Health Organisation. The result is healthier and more efficient cooking.

Yet there is another important benefit. The cook stoves generate biochar (charcoal) from the biomass that was used as fuel. This char can be returned to garden beds to create one of the most superior fertilisers for organic gardening. It is a vital ingredient in the creation of Terra Preta; a remarkable soil that has the ability to maintain nutrient levels in the earth for hundreds of years.

This in turn helps people grow healthier foods in much bigger quantities.
With a Kingdom Diamond supplied cookstove less fuel is consumed, fewer trees are cut down, there is less impact on the local wildlife, and fuel bills are reduced. And all because the cookstove is considerably more efficient than an ordinary fire.

So with just one gasfier cook stove, Kingdom Diamonds helps create better heath, better nutrition and more foods for one entire family.

We also donate 20% of all profit from the sale of Kingdom Diamonds sized under 1.0ct back to help the people (through education and infrastructure) of the African countries they are sourced from.
